The familiar seems safe, but just because you’re accustomed to less than you deserve doesn’t make it right. Comfort can be doom scrolling, sleeping in late, skipping the gym, putting your dreams off another day.
Challenge yourself a little every day to expand into a better version of yourself.

As outlandish as it may seem, worrying truly is a choice. When we abide by solution-based thinking and move in full faith that everything is working to teach us, we ask more questions about what we can learn from situations, rather than literally making ourselves sick with worry. Anything that is on your path opposing or challenging you, is your teacher.

Femininity is the key to a whole and healed world. Here are 3 key tips to inviting more of this energy into your life.

1. Slow down.
Even just a little bit. Ask yourself if you really have to eat so fast, to race out of the door, plan for more time so you can move more slowly, and things start to make more sense because you can hear your intuition better when you’re not in emergency mode. Speak more slowly, inhale before you respond, conscious though is the precursor to wise decisions.

2. Dress in a way that makes you feel good.
Having to constantly adjust clothing, wearing things that are too tight, too big, or so revealing you can’t have peace in public will disrupt your flow. Attention comes to beauty either way.

3. Remind yourself that you are safe.
Affirmations work wonders, figure out what you need to hear and write it down. Speak these things to yourself daily and in moments of panic.

There may have been a time when you had to be very hard and strong in situations, but now you are older with the space to grow. Building walls may keep people out… but remember it also imprisons you. There are safe, healed, and whole people who are happy to know you.

Softness is not weakness.
Water still has the capability to give and take life, we are quiet strength.

I spoke for @dove x @sheamoisture at BETX about “Beauty Beyond the Mirror”, the depths of our inner beauty, and the Crown Act which was passed to allow natural (textured/Afro-descent) to be worn without discrimination in the workplace.

I got the call that week to feature as a panelist- on the other side of the country, and said yes before my team had a clear map to execute.

The how isn’t as important as your determination… where there’s a will, there’s a way.

This whole thing was a whirlwind, and it fanned a deeply seeded ember into a flame for me.
I’m so grateful for my community, and to represent not only the beauty and diversity of our hair… But the beauty and diversity of our spirit and people as one humanity as well.

How much you can depend on yourself to do what’s in your own best interest (even when it’s hard) determines how much confidence you get to have in yourself.

I don’t drink (there’s not some long traumatic back story, it just tastes terrible and I never have 100% HP after) I’m able to relax into myself and my surroundings at will because I’ve come to know myself well.

Since making that decision in life, I’ve learned a lot about assumptions people make when you say that sort of thing, as well as how others feel judged, when I’ve cast none at all am just doing what I want to do. What we think others are thinking of us is often what we are subconsciously thinking of ourselves.

In anything we do, it should be in the interest of becoming our best selves.
We’re all on our own journeys and time takes each of us on different routes. For someone today, that may actually be drinking to land on a particular path they may not have found otherwise. Life works in strange ways.

With this decision, I have been in many environments where I have to reiterate I will not be drinking, and in spite of the disappointment of others (temporary) I go home hydrated, happy, and if the music was good, happy that I got to dance 💃🏾(lasting). More than that, I go home feeling so good that I stick to my own beliefs, and knowing that when I set a boundary, I’m standing on business!
I trust myself to show up even when there is tension from others, and this is a muscle!

Your confidence comes from the moments you show up for yourself, and decide that you respect yourself enough to do the things that are temporarily challenging, so you can have lasting joy.

Choose the courage to have self-discipline, do the hard things, and your heart blossoms. 🌹

I’m working on a collective body of my work to share… however this one just needed to see the light today as I keep seeing it over and over this week.

So many people are affected by domestic violence, both as victims and relatives to the victims. These things can last for years without anyone knowing the struggles of a victim… I want you to know you have space in my heart- always.

Through every circumstance that you, your mother, sister, brother, have fallen you have gotten back up. Each breath of life makes you a victor, and not a victim.
Always remember you deserve to feel, see, and be love. It doesn’t have to hurt- and you most certainly don’t have to pass it to someone else.

As time goes, I am truly understanding the depth of generational trauma and repetition.
To anyone who is hurting in this way.. your choices affect your outcome. It is a heavy challenge, however our god given gift is to choose better than those who came before us.

You deserve love. We all, deserve love.

With every petal shed, she is replenished with two. The journey is constantly learning things she never knew, she never knew. 🪷

It’s so important to keep an open mind because just like the limitations of our physical vision, the possibilities in reality can be held back by what we miss in our periphery.

Be love, be light, and remember the judgements you’re too quick to place on others are often the same you make of yourself.

Sleepy, grateful, sleepy… did I say grateful? 🤲🏽
I’m having trouble sleeping, mostly because I’m so excited I get to see the next day. Every day we open our eyes is a new opportunity to create the life we desire. Each breath a blessing.

Every single moment is governed by our choice of a brighter future, or a dim tomorrow. Always ask yourself- is this action moving me closer to the future I want? It will give you a lot of clarity.

“Do I deserve to achieve my goals?” If the answer is yes, you deserve to make the decision that serves you, even when it’s challenging.

Growth through obedience…Obedience through deep listening. 🧘🏽‍♀️

Through my career it’s been a fight to petition and show diversity with my natural hair texture, and I made the decision to stand my ground early on because the message is bigger than me.

Choosing to wear my natural hair turned into a conscious decision to stand for all the brown skinned girls who were taught their hair was unpresentable. This has been a labor of love, and I’m excited to chat about it this weekend.
